Havndal is situated by the south coast of the inlet 'Mariager Fjord', about 10 km from the Kattegat.

The old railway town Havndal is situated in a quiet and incredibly scenic area. The idyllic landscape by the inlet invites relaxation as well as walks and bicycle trips.
Because of the central location of Havndal, the distances to good, sandy beaches, lovely nature areas, leisure activities and sights for the whole family are short.
It is possible to buy groceries and dine in Havndal. The nearest larger towns are Hadsund (10 km) and Mariager (17 km).
No bathing beach is available directly by Havndal, but along the shores of the Kattegat you will find a number of good bathing beaches.
Slightly east of Havndal, by Sødring, the coast is a shallow bird area. About one kilometre out in the water, behind the sand bars, the water gets deeper and offers very good bathing possibilities.
The kilometre long, which bathing beach with low dunes and Blue Flag in Øster Hurup is recommendable as well. The beach is very suitable for children as the waves are small and the water shallow. The beach is also a popular place for bathing, sunbathing, windsurfing and other beach activities.
The lake 'Udbyover Sø' is situated in the outskirts of Havndal, and paths lead you all the way around the lake.
By the inlet 'Mariager Fjord' you can walk in the large salt meadows and the lush forest areas. Along the inlet it is possible to follow the paths on foot or on bicycle.
The game preserve 'Sødring Vildtreservat' is a scenic, 38 hectares large tidal area with an amazingly rich and interesting bird life. This place is also the breeding place for many different types of birds.
The forest 'Rold Skov' and the national park 'Rebild Bakker' is a large area of scenic nature with undulating terrain, forest lakes, varying forest, a rich animal life and many walking paths.
Near Havndal more golf courses are available. Towards north you will find the scenic course of 'Rold Skov Golfklub' and towards south the courses of 'Randers Golf Klub' and 'Norddjurslands Golfklub' are situated.
Anglers have good opportunities both in the inlet and in the sea. It is particularly popular to fish by Als Odde and Udbyhøj. Furthermore, the area offers more Put & Take fishponds.
Surfers will find good conditions on the inlet 'Mariager Fjord'.
The area is level and therefore very suitable for bicyclists. Lovely nature experiences await you along the marked bicycle paths, which lead through the scenic eastern Himmerland and around the inlet 'Mariager Fjord'.
A number of nature and walking paths are also available in the area.
The old mill 'Lyshøj Mølle' from the year 1894 is one of the treasures of the district. The mill is still functioning and all 4 floors are open to visitors. The beautiful estate 'Overgård Gods' from 1545 is situated in the same area and can be observed from the outside.
The beautiful estate 'Sødringholm Gods' from 1240 is situated right by the church of Sødring from 1250, which contains much beautiful fresco (10 km).
The museum 'Hadsund Egns Museum' is situated in scenic surroundings and contains exhibitions, which tell about the story of the district (10 km).
By 'Mariager Fjord' you can see the beautiful mill 'Havnø Mølle' with the thatched roof. The mill is northern Jutland's largest preserved windmill (13 km).
Experience the idyllic old marked town Mariager. The town is famous for its roses, the old, lopsided half-timbered houses, the cobbled streets and 'Danmarks Saltcenter' - the only tourist attraction in Scandinavia with the raw material salt as theme (17 km).
Willestrup Barokhave from 1750 by the estate Willestrup is a beautiful manor house garden with fountains, roses and bulbous plants (22 km).
In the 'rain forest' Randers Regnskov you can experience jungle paths, rocks, crocodiles and waterfalls (25 km).
The viking centre 'Fyrkat' by Hobro consists of the preserved castle mounds 'Fyrkat', reconstructions of a castle house and a viking farm with nine houses, build shortly before the year 1,000 (33 km).
The large forest 'Rold Skov' offers an undulating terrain, forest lakes, springs, varying forest, a rich animal life and many walking routes (34 km)
In the lime pit 'Thingbæk Kalkminer' by Rold Skov an underground sculpture museum has been established in the old mine galleries.
In Aalborg, the 'capital' of northern Jutland, you will find art, culture, pedestrian streets, a charming town centre, the amusement street 'Jomfru Ane Gade' as well as sights like Aalborg Zoo and Tivoliland (55 km).
