The cosy family area is situated just north of the scenic peninsula Helnæs. Here you can relax in the serene surroundings, fish, walk or go on an excursion to some of the many nearby sights of Funen. In Haarby, a few km behind the coast, you will find more shopping possibilities and restaurants. Fåborg lies 19 km from the holiday area and here you will find a rich supply of shops, restaurants, sights and leisure activities.
The beach 'Brydegård Strand' lies right by Haarby and has dunes, fine sand, deep water and a sandy bottom. The water also provides windsurfers with good opportunities.
'Strandholmen' by Faldsled is a sandy beach with stones and shallow water, which makes it very suitable for children (10 km). A similar beach can be found by Bøjden, 22 km from Haarby, but here the beach is longer.
The peninsular Helnæs also offers more good bathing beaches, which are suitable for children. One of the most popular beaches here is 'Feddet'. Equally, a really good bathing beach is available by Helnæs Made.
Haarby is situated by the south Funen archipelago, and here the scenic nature landscape invites long walks along the beach, in the forest or in the hills.
In the area around Horne/Fåborg you will find lovely forests and hilly country with a number of marked walking routes. Here you can enjoy the beautiful view of the landscape and furthermore experience old and well-preserved grave mounds from the stone age.
The cove 'Bøjden Nor' has a rich bird life.
The quite unique and very scenic landscape is an experience in itself on Helnæs. The 3 most significant nature areas are 'Bobakkerne', 'Helnæs Made' and 'Feddet'.
In this area you can see some of Denmark's best-preserved grave mounds from the stone age. Go for a walk along the marked routes in the nature reserve and enjoy the varying landscape with beach, meadow and fields.
A number of golf courses are available in the area, f.x. 'Vestfyns Golfklub' by Glamsbjerg (8 km) and 'Fåborg Golfklub' (19 km).
Anglers have good opportunities for a haul in the Little Belt and in the streams of the area. The beautiful Put & Take fishpond, which is situated right by the shore, is also worth a visit.
The south Funen archipelago offers good possibilities for both anglers and sailors. Furthermore, the Belt is famous for its good surf conditions.
The varying landscape invites walking and bicycle trips.
Faldsled is situated 10 km south of Haarby, right at the shore, and the town has its own small and cosy marina.
By Ebberup, 11 km from Haarby, you will find the beautiful Funen manor house 'Gl. Alvernæs' with a characteristic tower and surrounded by park and forest, as well as the mediaeval castle 'Hagenskov', where it is possible to enter an old dungeon.
'Frydenlund Fuglepark' by Tommerup is a lovely nature park with 700 birds from the whole world, waterhole, aviaries and a 2 km long walking path, leading you under large old trees and out on the open savannah (15 km).
Assens is an 800-years old marked town with Denmark''s most beautiful street. In the charming and very well-preserved town centre you will find merchant''s houses and gable house in timber frames. But Assens also has modern buildings, shops and a cosy marina (16 km). Visit Fåborg and enjoy the many museums, the old streets and the beautiful half-timbered houses. Here you will also have plenty of shopping possibilities (19 km). Den Fynske Landsby in Odense is an open-air museum, showing a Funen village environment from around the year 1850. In Odense Zoo you can experience animals and nature sceneries from all over the world. The beautiful castle Egeskov Slot near Kværndrup is characterized as one of the best preserved Renaissance island forts in Europe. See the beautiful gardens, a giant maze and more museums here (35 km).
