With only a few km to each of the holiday towns Tørresø and Hasmark, Jørgensø is situated right by the beach of north Funen, with a view to 'Fyns Hoved' and surrounded by a lovely and quiet landscape, which invites relaxation and stays in the nature. The area, surrounding the inlet 'Odense Fjord' is with its preserved nature area, forests, beaches and bird sanctuaries ideal for nature lovers, who can experience the landscape on foot or on bicycle. Towards east the bar Enebærodde with the preserved nature area and the inlet 'Odense Fjord', which is an important resting place for migrating birds, are situated. The bar has a lovely nature, a rich bird life and a lighthouse from the year 1869. It is popular to drive on bicycle, walk, fish or have a picnic here.
It is possible to buy groceries in the area, and Otterup, 8 km from Jørgensø, offers good shopping possibilities.
The beach of Jørgensø is a sandy beach with stones and clear bathing water. It is also very suitable for children. The bottom is a mixture on sand and stones. The beach is traffic-free.
By the preserved area 'Flyvesandet', the only dune area in Funen, you will find a lovely bathing beach with shallow water and a sandy bottom. The beach is situated to the west of Jørgensø. You are allowed to bring your car to the beach here.
Both of the above mentioned beaches offer very good conditions for windsurfers.
The beach 'Fuglsang Strand' consists of both sand and stones. Right behind the beach you will find a large recreational area.
Jørgensø is surrounded by the Kattegat and level nature landscapes with forest.
To the east of Jørgensø the bar Enebærodde, a preserved nature area, is situated.
The 5.5 km long tongue is the largest moor landscape in Funen and has a rich bird life as well as many rare plants and trees. By 'Gabet' you can see the 14 metres high lighthouse from the year 1869. There is only access to the area on foot or bicycle.
By the lake 'Langesø' and the forest 'Storskoven', close to Flyvesandet, the forest grows all the way down to the beach.
'Hasmarkmosen', a large marsh area with a unique vegetation as well as a rich bird and animal life, is situated just south-east of Jørgensø. The forests by Langesø and Morud have a rich and varied bird life.
The area is ideal for anglers as it offers great fishing opportunities. By Enebærodde and by Egebjerggård the possibilities for catching a sea trout are very good. A number of Put & Take fishponds are also available in the area. If you wish to go deep-sea fishing, the ship 'M/S Castor' departs from Bogense year round.
The inlet boat 'Svanen' takes you sailing on the inlet 'Odense Fjord' in the summer time.
The conditions for windsurfing are very good by the beach of Tørresø and by 'Flyvesandet'.
Golf players can try out some of the many scenic courses in the area. Within a radius of 20 km you will find the courses of 'Blommenslyst Golfklub', 'Odense Eventyr Golf Klub' and 'Odense Golfklub'.
Good nature experiences await you along the many walking and bicycle routes of the area, f.x. on the tongue 'Enebærodde', along the beach by Jørgensø and along the path 'Den Grønne Sti' in the northern outskirts of Otterup.
Otterup Museum has been established in a small former hospital, and here you can experience the alternating exhibitions, which all concern occurrences of the district (8 km).
'Hofmansgave' is a charming half-timbered manor house from the year 1784 with a small potato museum. A beautiful park with many rare plants belongs to the manor house.
Funen has the largest concentration of manor houses in Denmark, and with their fields, forests, avenues and stone fences they are all worth a visit.
A couple of examples are the old manor 'Gyldensteen Slot', which is situated close to 'Flyvesandet' and today works as a modern farm, as well as the estate 'Østruplund' by Otterup.
The gallery 'Galleri Hist' in Otterup shows an exhibition with i.a. handicraft, drawings and paintings.
The beautiful market town Bogense with the largest marina in Funen, its cosy atmosphere, the old squares, the fine merchant's houses and the many half-timbered houses, is definitely worth a visit (23 km).
Visit the home town of H.C. Andersen, Odense, a modern and evocative town with a number of leisure potentialities (23 km).
In the house of H.C. Andersen the strange story of the poet¿s life is told.
The railway museum 'Danmarks Jernbanemuseum' in Odense is a large museum with games, technique, experiences, discoveries and nostalgia.
'Den Fynske Landsby' by Odense is an open-air museum, showing a Funen village environment from around the year 1850.
In the aqua centre 'Fjord- & Bæltcentret' in Kerteminde you can experience the mysteries of the sea from a 50 metres long underwater tunnel or get close to porpoise from the outdoor bridge (42 km).
The beautiful castle 'Egeskov Slot' by Kværndrup has a beautiful garden, a giant maze and more museums (55 km).
