Nakskov, the largest town of the island Lolland, is located innermost in the 12 km long inlet Nakskov Fjord. In this historic town you can walk in the small and cosy streets with beautifully restored houses, shop on Denmark’s longest pedestrian street and enjoy the environment along the harbor. Nakskov contains more interesting museums and galleries. Close to Nakskov you can visit the scenic headland Albuen, two forests and the lovely beach Hestehovedet Strand, which has been awarded with the Blue Flag.
Just 3 km from the centre of Nakskov you will find the child-friendly sandy beach Hestehovedet Strand. The beach has the Blue Flag and Denmark’s longest wooden pier, which also enables wheelchair users to swim here. By Hestehovedet Strand you will find a kiosk, a playground and toilets. You can also play beach volley here and enjoy the atmosphere of the marina.
The beach Albuen Strand on the headland Albuen you will find another lovely bathing beach with Blue Flag. This 7 km long sandy beach, which is surrounded by three waters: Femer belt, Langeland belt and the inlet Nakskov Fjord, is located 14 km south-west of Nakskov.

The 12 km long inlet Nakskov Fjord has an area of nearly 50 km2. It contains 10 islands, which offer interesting nature experiences year round. Visit fx Enehøje, the largest island in the inlet, or the 7.5 km long headland Albuen with the fantastic beach.
By the inlet and on the dikes in the southern part of Lolland you can find many interesting plants, some of the very rare.
The area Langø has a rich wildlife and is surrounded by a peaceful landscape, which is perfect for hikes and bicycle trips (13 km). You can follow the 38 km long path Digestien between Albuen and Rødby.
The area around Nakskov is very flat. However, it contains a couple of forests and a hilly area. The forest Vindeholme Skov, located by the dike Østersødiget near Dannemare, contains more hiking paths (15 km).
Ravnsby Bakker ’The Alps of Lolland’ is a hilly and very atypical area on Lolland. Here you will find hills, trees, kettle holes from the Ice Age as well as the castle ruin Ravnsborg (13 km).
The beautiful inlet Nakskov Fjord invites angling and sails, and on land you can enjoy the sight of the inlet on foot or bicycle. The 38 km long bicycle path Digestien, which follows the sea from Albuen to Rødby, is recommendable.
Anglers can try their luck in the inlet or in a Put & Take fishpond. But you can also go deep sea fishing with a cutter from the harbour in Nakskov. Here you can also go sailing with the post boat, which delivers mail from Nakskov to the islands of the inlet and to the headland Albuen.
In Maribo you can take a ride along Denmark's oldest museum trail. The 8 km long stretch between Maribo and Bandholm leads you through a vey scenic forest area (27 km).
Golfers can test the courses of Vestlollands Golfklub and Golfklubben Maribo Sø.
Nakskov contains a large number of sights. Here you can visit the sugar museum Danmarks Sukkermuseum, which tells the story of the sugar, Den Gamle Smedje (the old forge), Det Gamle Trykkeri (the old print shop) and the shipping museum Nakskov Skibs- & Søfartsmuseum, which contains models of ships, costumes, tools, instruments and photos.
Reventlow-Museet Pederstrup near Horslunde is located in the middle of ’the Alps of Lolland’. Here you can visit an interesting interior museum and a beautiful park, which is open year round (13 km).
In the garden Peter Hansens Have near Kappel you can see interesting plants from the whole world. Follow the many paths, which wind through the garden, and enjoy the sight of the exotic plants (18 km).
In beautiful surroundings, near Maribo, you will find the open-air museum Frilands-museet, which contains different houses, a farm, a post mill, a forge and a school. The buildings and their lay-out gives you a good impression of the farm culture and building tradition on Lolland around the year 1800 (25 km).
Knuthenborg Safaripark near Bandholm is Northern Europe’s largest safari park. Here you can drive in your own car, very close to monkeys, tigers, giraffes and rhinos (28 km).
In Krokodille Zoo in Eskilstrup on Falster you can experience a large number of the crocodile and alligator species, which exist today. See everything from a small cayman to a giant Nile crocodile (54 km).
