The quiet and cosy area by Napstjært and Ålbæk is famous for its nice white and very child-freindly sandy beaches. Napstjært is well-situated in relation to larger towns, lovely nature area, leisure activities and sights for the whole family. It is possible to buy groceries nearby, and interesting specialist shops and restaurants are available in Frederikshavn (18 km) and Skagen (23 km).
By Napstjært you will find a lovely, white bathing beach with fine sand and clear water. The beach is very suitable for families and small children because of the shallow water and the Blue Flag.
Napstjært is surrounded by beach, forests and level salt meadows, which offer a rich vegetation and animal life.
Right behind Ålbæk you will find the dune plantation 'Ålbæk Klitplantage' with more marked walking paths in the scenic nature (3 km towards north).
The situation of Napstjærts makes it possible to experience both the east and the west coast of Jutland. Go to the wide and white sandy beaches of the west coast or visit 'Råbjerg Mile', one of Europe's largest drifting dunes. The dune is preserved and moves about 15 metres towards north-east every year (14 km).
Between the coasts lush meadows and forests characterize the landscape, and by the east coast you can enjoy the level salt meadows with a vigorous plant and bird life.
Make the most of the short distance between the east and west coast, and see the sun rise over the Kattegat and set over the Skagerrak.
Anglers have good possibilities in the area. You can fish directly from the beach, in the stream 'Elling Å' as well as in the Put & Take fishponds of the area. However you have to respect the fishing prohibition in the preserved area around the stream 'Rugholm Å'.
A number of golf courses are available in the area. Try out the courses by 'Frederikshavn Golf Klub', 'Sindal Golf Klub', 'Golfklubben Hvide Klit' by Ålbæk, 'Hirtshals Golfklub' and 'Hjørring Golf Klub'.
Beautiful nature experiences await you along the many walking, bicycle and riding paths of the area.
The cosy fishing hamlet Ålbæk, 3 km north of Napstjært, has a charming and pleasant harbour atmosphere, which attracts many yachtsmen every year.
The animal park 'Farm Fun' is situated only a few km north of Napstjært. Here the children can strike and cuddle more than 20 different animals. A large playground is also available.
In the eagle sanctuary 'Ørnereservatet' by Tversted, you can get close to some of the world's largest eagle species and watch them get fed in the air (11 km).
In the local galleries and potteries you can exhibitions of f.x. ceramics, glass, paintings and graphics.
Only 12 km south of Napstjært you can go with the ferry on a daytrip to the island Læsø or to Sweden. In the Swedish town Göteborg you will find large department stores, cosy restaurants and the famous amusement park Liseberg.
Visit Skagen, the northernmost town of Denmark, with the fishing harbour, the marina, the museums, the many shops and the many seafood restaurants. At the northernmost tip 'Grenen' you can see the Kattegat and the Skagerrak meet (23 km). 'Den Tilsandede Kirke' (the church, buried in sand), south of Skagen, is together with the drifting dune 'Råbjerg Mile' and tip of Skagen 'Grenen' among the most famous nature sights in Denmark.
In the amusement park 'Fårup Sommerland & Aquapark' by the holiday town Blokhus you can try out more than 50 exciting activities for the whole family. When the entry has been paid for, all activities are available for free (78 km).
