Gerlev Strandpark is a cosy holiday home area by the Roskilde Fjord – right opposite the commercial town Frederikssund. The app. 150 holiday homes in Gerlev Strandpark are surrounded by fields, bogs, woods and other green spaces. You can experience nature by cycling on the bay path to Frederikssund, hiking along or swimming in the Roskilde Fjord or by playing golf in Frederikssund Golfklub, which is situated right behind the holiday area. Furthermore, Gerlev Strandpark offers a large playground, in idyllic half-timbered inn with thatched roof, where you can dine and watch arts and crafts, as well as a small harbour with fishing boats. Here you can spend your holiday in tranquil and scenic surroundings, and still be close to Frederikssund, which offers many shops and restaurants, as well as many of North Sealand’s sights.
When you spend your holiday in Gerlev Strandpark, you can swim in the shallow Roskilde Fjord. The water is clear and you can make use of a bathing jetty for jumping into the water.
If you wish to swim by a bathing beach with dunes, you can go to the north coast of Sealand and enjoy the beaches of e.g. Liseleje (27 km) and Gilleleje (31 km). By the seaside towns along the north coast you will also find good conditions for wind and kite surfing.
The holiday homes in Gerlev Strandpark are surrounded by soft fjord landscapes, fields, bogs, green spaces and woodlands. One of the woods is Færgelunden. This beautiful and varying wood is located near Jægerspris (right by the bridge towards Frederikssund) and offers views of the fjord.
Nordskoven is a forester, which is located just north of Jægerspris, and here you will find lakes, a golf course and Kongeegen; an impressive 2,000 years old oak (14 km).
Denmark’s largest lake, Arresø of 40 km2, is located right behind Frederiksværk (22 km towards north). You can walk or cycle along the lake or go on a sail.
Right above Arresø you will find Tibirke Bakker, which is a beautiful and preserved nature area with heathery hills. From a viewpoint in the hills you can enjoy the great view of Arresø, the forest Gribskov and a bite of the Roskilde fjord (34 km).
Golfers can test the beautiful 18-hole course and a 9-hole Pay and Play course in Frederikssund Golfklub, just 2 km from the holiday home area.
If you bring your fishing rod along, you can try your luck along the shore of the Roskilde Fjord. You can also fish at more places along the shore of the lake Arresø as well as in the many Put and Take fishponds of the area.
You can hike and cycle in the area, challenge each other in a go-cart race at Roskilde Racing Center and Holbæk Go-kart land, try your strength with climbing courses, ropeways and a free fall course in the treetops at Holbæk Klatrepark or go on a pleasant sail on the Isefjord.
In the play park Gerlev Legepark the whole family can gambol on a three acres area with a games area, a battle and Viking area, a parkour course and much more (a couple of km towards south).
Visit Frederikssund Museum, which is a culture-historical museum with interesting collections from the Bronze Age and the late Stone Age (3 km).
Experience the impressive castle Selsø Slot, which was originally built in Renaissance style and later rebuild as Baroque. Here you can see distinguished knight’s halls, giant paintings and Versailles mirrors among other things (11 km).
In Roskilde you will find the impressive cathedral Roskilde Domkirke with the appurtenant museum as well as the interesting Viking museum, which is an interesting museum with exhibitions and 5 original Viking ships. You can sail on the Roskilde Fjord with one of the museum ships (32 km).
47 km from your holiday home you will find the capital of Denmark, Copenhagen, where you can shop, dine and visit the many sights and museums of the city, like e.g. Tivoli, Planetarium, Carlsberg Glyptotek, Nationalmuseet, Statens Museum for Kunst, Experimentarium, København Zoo and much more.
In Humlebæk you can visit the beautiful art museum Louisiana, which shows varying exhibitions. Here art and architecture come together, and the finishing touch is the magnificent view of the Oresund (47 km).
Visit the shipping museum M/S Museet for Søfart in Helsingør, which is an architectonic pearl, but also a very interesting museum with varying special exhibitions about shipping (49 km).
