The holiday home area Højby Lyng is surrounded by green hills, covered with heather, a lovely bathing beach and a protected nature area with a rich bird life. Here you are close to nature, but still you will find towns, amusement parks, zoos and other sights for the whole family just a few kilometres from the holiday area. The area also invites sails, golf, fishing and other activities in nature.
Højby Lyng is located by the shore, a couple of kilometres from the town Højby, where you can buy groceries and visit a church with very find frescos. Nykøbing Sjælland is located close to Højby, and this town offers restaurants, shopping and culture.
In Højby Lyng you can make use of a fine and child-friendly bathing beach with dunes and shallow water. You can also visit the lovely wide sandy beach of Gudmindrup, just a few hundred metres from Højby Lyng. This beach was elected to be on of the best bathing beaches in 2007 by the national newspaper Jyllandsposten.

Scenic heathery hills, salt meadows, beach and the forest Ellinge Skov surround Højby Lyng.
Just south of the holiday area you can experience Korevlerne - a unique protected nature area with salt meadows, lagoons and a rich birdlife.
The lake Højby Sø was created during a storm more than 100 years ago. The lake is located in a 60 hectares area with paths, and around the lake you can see a number of interesting plants.
The area, surrounding the beach of Hønsinge Lyng, app. 5 km towards south, is protected, but you are allowed to hike and ride a bike here in the lovely undulating nature with forest as well as plantations with pine and spruce.
Near Hovvig, east of Nykøbing, you can experience an interesting bird sanctuary.
The area invites activities in the scenic nature. If the weather lets you down, you can visit the swimming baths of the town Vig or go bowling in Nykøbing Sjælland among other things.
You can follow the paths of the nature area Korevlerne and enjoy the sight of the many birds.
Golfers have good opportunities for expression here. You can try out the courses of Højby Golfbane (5 km), Odsherred Golfklub (6 km), Mensalgård Pay&Play course with 9 holes (6 km) and Dragsholm Golf Club (18 km).
Anglers can throw in the line along the shore, in the channels of the inlet Lammefjorden or on the sea, onboard a cutter, which sails out from Havnsø or Sjællands Odde. Furthermore, you will find more Put&Take fishponds in the area.
Troldhøj Jættestue near Højby is one of Denmark’s best-preserved passage graves with two chambers. It once functioned as a burial chamber for 98 persons. You can see the exhibition from the excavation in the nearby Stenstrup Museum (5 km).
The mill Lumsås Mølle, near Sjællands Odde, is a working mill museum, where the flour is corned in the old-fashioned manner. You can admire the impressive constructions, the beautiful interior and the white whips as well as buy flour here (7 km).
Visit Odsherred Zoo near Asnæs, where you can walk around between the animals and experience them at close range. You will only find safety fences where it is absolutely necessary. See when the animals are fed and experience an interesting falconer show (10 km).
The amusement park Sommerland Sjælland near Nørre Asmindrup offers more than 60 rides for the whole family - among others a cosy canoe trip, a wild ride in the roller coaster or a dip in Sealand’s largest water world (10 km).
Nykøbing Sjælland is a cosy market town with pedestrian street, shops and pavement cafés (9 km). Enjoy the atmosphere of the charming town.
Visit the beautiful castle Dragsholm Slot near Hørve - one of Denmark’s oldest castles (19 km).
Go on a sail from Havnsø (27 km) to the island Sejerø, which has Denmark’s mildest climate, an undulating landscape, many small bathing beaches as well as more barrows and a monolith.
The iron age park Sagnlandet Lejre consists of 4 houses and 8 small workshops from the iron age. Here you can sail in dugout canoes, chop wood with an iron age axe and mill flour (56 km).
Take a trip to Copenhagen and enjoy the pulse of the metropolis, the interesting sights and the multiple cultural offers (95 km).
