Jyllinge is situated in an area of natural beauty. The beautiful inlet Roskilde Fjord with clear and child-friendly shallow water makes the area very suitable for the entire family. The inlet is also ideal for angling and you can fish sea trouts and garfish. For yachtsmen and wind surfers a sail or surfing along the fjord is recommendable. There are very good shopping possibilities in the covered Jyllinge-Center with i.a. supermarkets, pharmacy, post office, banks and restaurants. The nearest larger town is Roskilde and here you will find shops, restaurants, leisure activities, galleries and cultural sights.
The holiday home area is situated only a few metres from the inlet with direct access to a beach, which is very suitable for children. Along 'Roskilde Fjord' it is also possible to swim by i.a. the beach 'Marbæk Strandpark', which has a sandy bottom and shallow water and you can play beach volley here (22 km).
If you wish to swim in the sea, the beach of Liseleje is recommendable. The lovely beach is situated approx. 35 km from Jyllinge, and it is said to be one of the best beaches of the Kattegat. It has fine sand, dunes and lifeguards during the high season. It is very suitable for children and has the Blue Flag. Windsurfers will find really good conditions here.
The distance to the best bathing beaches of the sound 'Øresund' is 34 km, and as an example the beach of Skodsborg can be recommended. Here you can sunbathe in the grass or play ball. The beach of Lokeshøj/Frydenlund, which is very suitable for children, is also worth a visit.
Meadows, wetlands, inlet, tongues, beach, bays, lakes and streams, lakes and rivers characterize the holiday area of Jyllinge. There are hiking trails to Frederiksssund and Roskilde. A walk to the original fishing harbour is an exciting experience. Here it is possible to feel a special atmosphere with fishermen, characteristic tackle sheds and fishing yarns in an environment adjusted to the fishing life.
In the nature reserve at the inlet Roskilde Fjord the water is very shallow, almost all over the inlet with depths of less than 6 metres - and here you will find a large number of wading birds, which breed on the approx. 30 small islands and tongues.
Experience the inlet, for example from a Viking ship or a modern boat, and enjoy the view over small islands, abruptly sloping shores and an extensive range of bird life (9 km).
The distance to Denmark's largest lake Arresø is only 23 km. The path, surrounding the lake, is 50 km long.
Within a radius of 20 km from Roskilde and the surrounding country there are many different activities. Visit e.g. Roskilde Bowling Center, Roskilde Badet, the swimming baths for the entire family, or the 1250 m long Go-cart-track in Roskilde Racing Center.
The golf course of Roskilde Golf Klub is only approx. 20 km from the holiday home area. The golf course of 'Asserbo Golfklub' (31 km) is the oldest and one of the best in Denmark. It offers challenges for both beginners and experienced players.
If you are interested in angling, there are many opportunities of fishing well-fed trouts in the inlet Roskilde Fjord - or you may visit Roskilde Fiskeland (24 km) with facilities such as, toilets, fish cleaning tables, kiosk and parking around the lakes.
By Rågeleje (approx. 47 km) you will find the area 'Heatherhill'. The steep slopes and the favourable wind conditions of the area makes 'Heatherhill' an ideal place for paragliders. The wind also creates good conditions for windsurfers.
The parish of Jyllinge has 2 churches: The old medieval church built about 1100 and the new modern Hellig Kors Kirke.
In Frederikssund you can experience plays with Vikings during the summer ( approx. 15 km). Frederikssund also offers the museum
'J.F. Willumsens Museum'. The collection contains paintings, drawings, graphics, pottery, sculptures and photos.
The Viking village 'Vikingelandsbyen' by Frederikssund is a lovely situated and well-preserved village with houses and ships.
Roskilde, one of the oldest towns in Denmark, was the trading centre of the Vikings more than 1000 years ago and, and it has since then developed into an important town. The beautiful Cathedral of Roskilde with its red bricks is just one of the many attractions of this town (17 km).
In the cathedral you will find sepulchral chapels and an interesting museum illustrating a thousand years of Cathedral history. See among other things the precious dress the children of Christian IV were buried in.
Visit the capital Copenhagen with sights like the Tivoli, a planetarium, the adventure centre ''perimentarium'' the art museum 'Carlsberg Glyptotek', the castle 'Rosenborg Slot' with the crown jewels, København Zoo and much more (50 km).
Louisiana in Humlebæk is a museum for modern art. The unique museum buildings and the beautiful old park create interesting settings for the art (approx. 53 km).
The ''aren Blixen Museum' at Rungstedlund has been established with gallery, exhibitions, the private living rooms of Karen Blixen, a slide department, a library and a café (42 km).
The amusement park Sommerland Sjælland offers Sealand's largest aqua park, Amazonas, go-karts, carousels and shooting (50 km).
Bonbonland (approx. 77 km) contains more than 70 activities for the whole family - by land, by sea and in the air. The world's oldest amusement park Bakken (40 km) is Pierrot, restaurants, revues, entertainment etc.
