Nature

Omø has a special climate, and because of its location, the island has the lowest rainfall and the highest summer temperatures in Denmark. Nature on Omø is green, untouched and versatile with stretches of coast, fields, meadows, marsh and the lake Omø Sø. The island is very flat, but it still has a 24 metres high point - Skovbanken, from which you can enjoy the view of the harbour, the village, the lake, the marsh and the lighthouse. In clear weather you can see all the way to Funen, the Great Belt Bridge and the archipelago north of Lolland. The lake Omø Sø is surrounded by a flowery meadow area with a multiple bird life, and by the hill Skovklinten you can see sand martins, which live in nest holes in the cliff. On Omø you can enjoy the sound of the waves and a completely clear and starry sky, undisturbed by street lights.
