Among the most famous sights in Kolding is the more than 700 years old royal castle Kondinghus by the lake Slotssøen, the art and design museum Trapholt as well as the inviting water world and spa Slotssøbadet.
A number of good and child-friendly beaches are available near Kolding. Try for example the local Rebæk Strand with fine sand and a long bathing jetty or Elvig Høj Strand, which is scenically located outermost on the peninsular Drejenshalvøen (9 km).
The beach Løverodde Strand near Sdr. Stenderup is a child-friendly beach with fine sand, shallow water and a long bathing jetty (15 km).
Hejlsminde Strand is equally a lovely child-friendly beach, facing east, with fine sand and shallow water (17 km towards south).
You can follow the path Kærlighedsstien (the love path) around the lake Slotssøen, in the centre of Kolding, and admire nature as well as Koldinghus. Furthermore, Kolding contains more town parks and beautiful gardens.
The idyllic forest area Marienlund is located close to the town centre of Kolding. The area offers undisturbed nature, walking paths and the beautiful lake Møllesø near the closed down watermill Skovmølle.
Visit the river valley Kolding Ådal, enjoy the scenic nature, follow the walking paths and see the interesting landscape exhibitions. You can also angle in the river valley.
The forest Stenderup Skovene on the peninsular Stenderup, south of Kolding, consists mainly of beech wood. Here you can experience a rich wildlife as well as a number of historic relics like e.g. long barrows and ramparts from the Middle Ages.
Skamlingsbanken, Southern Jutlands highest point, is a scenic excursion point, from which you can enjoy the view of the Little Belt.
The play park Legeparken is located in scenic natural surroundings in the town park Bypark Vest and offers a great number of play facilities for children of all ages. You can sail on the big lake in rowing boats or on water cycles, or try the moon car track and the aerial runway.
The water world and spa Slotssøbadet is situated by the lake Slotssøen in the heart of Kolding. Here you can gambol in the water world, visit the spa ’Dronning Dorotheas Badestue’ and perhaps enjoy a relaxing treatment.
