The small provincial town Toftlund is located in beautiful nature surroundings in the centre of South Jutland. The town offers a great golf ground with more courses, an open-air swimming pool, tennis courts and other sports grounds as well as a music house, a cinema, restaurants and a pedestrian street with numerous shops. A path system leads you through the town, and in the northern outskirts of the town you will find the inviting forest Toftlund Skov. Within a short driving distance you will reach historic sights as well as amusements for the whole family. The bigger commercial towns like f.ex. Ribe, Aabenraa, Haderslev and Tønder are located in a radius of app. 30 km from here. Both Germany and the lovely North Sea island Rømø is located app. 40 km from Toftlund.
There is no beach by Toftlund, but on the other hand the town contains a lovely open-air swimming pool.
40 km to the west of Toftlund you will find Scandinavia's widest sandy beach: Lakolk Strand on the island Rømø. The 15 km long, child-friendly, fine and completely stone-free sandy beach has shallow water, sandy bottom, dunes and Blue Flag. The unusual thing about this beach is that it is very wide - between 1.5 and 6 km - which invites various beach activities. F.ex. are kite buggy driving, petanque, kite flying and windsurfing very popular activities here. It is possible to drive your car all the way down to the water's edge. However, the beach also has car-free areas as well as areas for windsurfers. During the summer a lifeguard keeps an eye on the bathers here. There is a big difference between low tide and high tide, and twice every day the water level changes distinctively. Therefore, you must be careful when you park your car close to the water.
The forest Toftlund Skov is located just north of the town and covers an area of app. 5 hectares. The forest contains a number of paths and an area for dogs.
Furthermore, Toftlund is characterized by a varying nature with fields, meadows, bogs, lakes and streams.
App. 27 km towards west you can experience the marsh, salt meadows, large wetlands and rich birdlife of the Jutland Wadden Sea as well as the fertile nature behind the shore with moor landscapes, forests, plantations, lakes, streams, farmland and grazing animals.
The characteristic nature landscape with the march and the Wadden Sea is very unique and cannot be found anywhere else in the world. Here the rough, but incredibly bird and animal rich nature will fascinate you. Often you are able to observe seals here, as they live in the western parts of the Wadden Sea.
The golf course Bruntlandbanen is situated in Toftlund and offers a beautiful, hilly 18-hole golf course with narrow fairways and many lakes. Furthermore, Bruntlandbanen has a Pay & Play park course with old trees, lakes, streams, bunkers as well as two Par-4 and seven Par-3 holes, and everyone can play here.
The forest in the northern outskirts of Toftlund invites lovely walks.
Various sports grounds with f.ex. playing fields and petanque are available in town.
In addition to this, you will find a riding centre close to the town.
Anglers can fish in the Put & Take fishpond Arrild Fiskesø or in the streams of the area.
Motor sport enthusiasts can visit both a go-cart track and a speedway centre in Vojens (app. 19 km). Equally, Skærbæk offers a go-cart track (24 km).
Play Vikings for a day in Vikingecenteret in Ribe, Denmark's oldest town (26 km). Here you can greet blacksmiths, weavers and cooks from the Viking age and visit their homes.
Visit the castles Gram Slot, which contains a museum for natural history and geology (11 km), and Aabenraa Slot, which is surrounded by water and trees (31 km).
The old town Aabenraa stretches all the way down to the inlet, and here you can experience the harbour, the beach, the lovely pedestrian street with markets, the old quarter as well as the castle Aabenraa Slot of course.
Experience Rømø with Europe's widest sandy beach, lovely bathing water, charming Rømø-farms with thatched roofs, a cosy island atmosphere and many sights, like f.ex. Rømø Mini Museum, the nature centre Naturcenter Tønnisgård, the museum Nationalmuseet Kommandørgården and the amusement park Rømø Sommerland (36 km).
The commercial town Haderslev has a cosy pedestrian street, many green areas, an old quarter with gently restored houses and collections as well as a beautiful cathedral. Haderslev Museum and the archaeological Sønderjyllands Arkæologiske Museum are definitely worth a visit (32 km).
With more than 50 activities LEGOLAND is the most amusing playground for the whole family. Experience knights in armours, pirates, tough cowboys, wild Indians and much more (78 km).
