Forty years of Sol og Strand
A holiday home located in coastal dune heathland in Lyngså, south of Sæby, grew into Sol og Strand Feriehusudlejning A/S, which today has 21 local offices managing the bookings of approximately 6,500 holiday homes. Never in their wildest dreams did Margit or Kjeld Andersen think that renting their holiday home while they spent their honeymoon in Lapland would turn into a major business.
While on their honeymoon, Kjeld pondered over whether they could find some people from near or far who would like to spend their holidays in Danish holiday homes that were unused for most of the year. Was there a way to bring holiday visitors and holiday home owners together and could he help with this?
The couple established a small holiday home rental company in 1979 and the company developed rapidly. Today Sol og Strand Feriehusudlejning A/S is one of the largest holiday home rental agencies in Denmark.

In 2019, married couple Margit og Kjeld Andersen were able to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Sol og Strand Feriehusudlejning A/S, the company they like to call their “third child”. The couple passionately wanted to ensure that their life’s work would continue and would remain Danish-owned, so they decided to transfer the share majority to a foundation – “Sol og Strand Fonden ved Margit og Kjeld”. They were also motivated by an altruistic desire and ensured that the foundation would support humanitarian causes and local activities.
